Kevork Hamparian's Engineering Portfolio
Residual Solvent Analysis on Electrospun Nanofibers
Where: Matregenix internship. Analysis conducted at the Boston University Chemistry Department

When: Summer of 2019

Objective:
-
To provide preliminary data on amount of residual Hexafluoro-2-propanol left in electrospun nanofiber sheet at varying sheet thicknesses and varying drying times and techniques
HFIP calibration curve showing detector response for Qion 51.1 for calibration curve ranging from 0.488 ppm (brown) to 7.8125 ppm (yellow)

HFIP calibration curve showing detector response for Qion 55.1 with corresponding equation and R squared value:

Directly responsible for:
-
Setting up GC-MS machine
-
Constructing calibration curve by running known amounts of HFIP in methanol
-
Testing nanofiber sheets dissolved in methanol to find residual HFIP in sheets
